DMCA / Copyright Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-14 · These terms are reviewed by Astra periodically and effective on the Last updated date above.
Astra operates a notice-and-takedown programme aligned with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, the EU Copyright Directive 2019/790, the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and analogous regimes (Brazil's Marco Civil, China's Information Network Transmission Right Protection Regulations, India's IT Rules 2021).
This policy explains how to submit a takedown notice, how the uploader can counter-notice, and how repeat infringers are handled.
1. Designated DMCA agent
Astra has registered (or will register before commercial launch) a Designated Agent with the U.S. Copyright Office under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(2). Send notices to:
- DMCA Agent: [Designated Agent Name — fill in]
- Email (preferred): hello@astraplatform.ai
- Postal: [Designated Agent Address — fill in], United States
- Phone: [Designated Agent Phone — fill in]
A copy of the registration is on file at the address above.
2. Submitting a takedown notice
To be valid under § 512(c)(3), the notice must include all of:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorised to act for the rights holder.
- Identification of the copyrighted work (or a representative list, if multiple).
- Identification of the material to be removed with information sufficient to locate it (URLs, stream IDs, post IDs).
- Contact: full name, postal address, telephone, email.
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorised.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the rights holder.
Send to hello@astraplatform.ai. Materially incomplete notices may not be processed. Misrepresentation in a DMCA notice may make the sender liable under § 512(f).
3. What we do after a valid notice
- Acknowledge within 48 hours (business days).
- Remove or disable access within 5 business days if the notice is facially valid.
- Notify the uploader with a copy (the rights holder's contact details can be redacted at submission on request).
- Log a strike against the uploader.
4. Counter-notice procedure
The uploader may submit a counter-notice under § 512(g) containing:
- Physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the removed material and its previous location.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, of good-faith belief that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Name, postal address, telephone, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the uploader's district (or, if outside the US, the District of Delaware) and acceptance of service from the original complainant.
Send to hello@astraplatform.ai. We forward to the complainant and restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant files a court action and notifies us.
5. Repeat-infringer policy
Astra terminates the accounts of repeat infringers under § 512(i):
- Three (3) valid takedown notices within a rolling 12-month period for the same account triggers termination.
- For live broadcasts and shop sellers: two (2) valid notices within 30 days suspend monetisation and trigger manual review.
- Termination appealable at /help/appeals/copyright within 30 days.
6. Trademark and other IP claims
Trademark, right-of-publicity, or non-copyright IP claims: email hello@astraplatform.ai with your mark or right, alleged misuse, proof of authority, and contact information. Same timelines.
