Community Guidelines
Last updated: 2026-05-14 · These terms are reviewed by Astra periodically and effective on the Last updated date above.
Astra is built around quiet reflection and respectful encounter. These guidelines apply everywhere on the Platform: profile, Cosmos, Live, Shorts, Direct Messages, Reader Marketplace, Shop, Whispers, Sky Wall, Stories, Embed widgets. The Acceptable Use Policy is the technical / abuse counterpart to this human- relationship counterpart.
1. The vibe (in plain English)
- Be honest about who you are. We do not require legal name but we do require not-pretending-to-be-someone-else.
- Disagree without contempt. Calling out an idea is welcome. Belittling a person is not.
- Honour privacy. What others share with you in a reading, a DM, or a circle stays there. Don't screenshot-and-mock.
- Credit your teachers. If a creator's work shaped yours, name them.
- Use the Report button. A 30-second tap is the difference between us catching abuse and missing it.
2. Zero-tolerance content (instant permanent ban)
The following result in immediate permanent ban + preservation of evidence + report to NCMEC or equivalent agency where applicable:
- CSAM — any sexual content involving minors, real or AI- generated.
- Sexual content of minors in any framing, including grooming language.
- Real threats of violence against any person or group.
- Glorification or planning of mass harm.
- Sale of weapons, controlled substances, fraudulent identification.
- Human-trafficking content.
- Material support of terrorist organisations designated by your jurisdiction.
3. Strongly prohibited (graduated enforcement)
We remove content and apply the three-strike ladder (warning → 7-day suspension → 30-day suspension → permanent ban) for:
- Sexual harassment — unwanted explicit content, comments, or DMs of a sexual nature.
- Hate speech — slurs, dehumanisation, or attacks directed at protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, serious disease). Includes "astrological" framing that targets identity.
- Doxxing — publishing real-world identifying information about another person without consent.
- Stalking + targeted harassment — repeated unwanted contact, coordinated pile-ons, off-platform mob steering.
- Scams, phishing, financial cons — including fake "famous reader" impersonations and "I see your future, pay me to unlock it" cons.
- Impersonation of another person, brand, AI, or Astra staff.
- Spam — repeat low-quality or promotional content, including link spam, follow-for-follow loops, and AI-content factories.
- Engagement manipulation — fake gifts, vote brigading, sock puppets, paid mass-follow, ban-evasion alts.
- Off-platform soliciting by readers / creators trying to take the seeker outside Astra for payment or contact.
- Promotion of self-harm or suicide as a path forward (crisis conversations are welcome; promotion is not).
- Promotion of eating disorders, dangerous restrictive diets, or pro-ana content.
- Real-world meetups arranged via DM with strangers without a clear safety plan — we don't ban this outright but creators arranging meet-ups via DM violate the Reader Agreement.
4. Reader-and-seeker specific
The seeker / reader relationship is privileged. Special rules:
- No promises of outcomes. "You will get the job", "they will come back", "I see a tumour" are violations.
- No medical, psychiatric, legal, or financial advice. Refer to licensed professionals.
- No off-platform payments. All money flows through Stripe on Astra so we can mediate disputes.
- No romantic, sexual, or emotionally entangling contact with a seeker.
- No urgency tactics ("you must rebook tomorrow or the spell breaks").
- No exploitation of grief, addiction, or crisis for upsell.
- No real-world meetups arranged via DM.
- Crisis protocols are mandatory when a seeker presents risk indicators (see the Astrology & Divination Disclaimer § 6 and the Reader Agreement).
See also the Reader Agreement and Reader Marketplace Agreement for the full creator-side rules.
5. Live and voice specific
- No nudity or sexual content on Live or in voice rooms, ever.
- No alcohol or drug use on Live where minors may be in the audience.
- No broadcasting another person without explicit consent.
- No streaming copyrighted music or video without rights.
- Sale of services on stream must go through Astra's gift / tip / booking system — no off-platform payment links.
- Recording: streams are recorded as VOD by default and retained for 30 days. Broadcasters may opt out per stream; recording status is shown in the header.
See the Live Streaming Rules for the full detail.
6. Sensitive topics
We allow honest discussion of mental health, sexuality, identity, grief, addiction, abuse, and trauma. We require content notes at the top of any reading, short, post, or stream that goes into detail. The platform offers default tags; creators add specifics.
For suicidal-ideation discussion, we add an auto-applied "Crisis support" banner with regional hotlines.
7. AI content
You may use AI tools — including ours — to write, illustrate, or generate audio. You must:
- Disclose AI-generated content clearly in your post.
- Not present AI output as a human reader's authored work.
- Not bulk-publish AI-generated profile spam.
8. Reporting
Every star, post, short, stream, message, profile, gift, comment, and reading has a Report button. Reports go to Astra Trust & Safety with a target acknowledgement of 24 hours and target decision of 5 business days (faster for live-safety matters).
For urgent safety (imminent harm, suicide intent, child safety):
- In-app: tap Report → Urgent.
- Email: hello@astraplatform.ai.
- Local emergency services: see the crisis hotline list in Astrology & Divination Disclaimer § 5.
9. Enforcement (the three-strike ladder)
| Strike | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 | Warning. Content removed. Education link. |
| 2 | 7-day partial suspension. Pro / Creator features paused. |
| 3 | 30-day suspension or permanent ban depending on severity. |
| Zero-tolerance (§ 2) | Immediate permanent ban, no warning. |
Strikes age out after 12 months of clean behaviour. Severity escalations (e.g. multiple flagged DMs in 24 hours) can compress the ladder.
10. Appeals
You can appeal any moderation action within 30 days:
- Account suspension → /help/appeals/account
- Stream takedown → /help/appeals/live
- Content removal → in-app via the takedown notice
- Reader suspension → /help/appeals/reader
Decision in 5 business days. Repeated frivolous appeals may be deprioritised. We do not undo ban for zero-tolerance violations.
11. Contact
